Work brings people together too.

Meeting workmates is part of the journey. When counting specified work days, separately check the tasks, area and evidence required by Home Affairs.

How to use the Working Holiday guides

Both are part of the Working Holiday Maker program, but your passport determines which pathway and requirements apply. With a Spanish passport, check the 462; do not use a 417 checklist because someone else from Europe applied for that visa.

CheckHow to decide
PassportYour passport nationality determines the subclass. With a Spanish passport, check subclass 462; subclass 417 is for other eligible passports.
AgeSpain: for a first subclass 462, you must be 18 to 30 inclusive when you apply. Other passports may have different age limits; check the current visa page.
Education and EnglishFor Spain, check higher-education and functional-English requirements in the subclass 462 guide; subclass 417 criteria may differ.
Subsequent visasEach subclass and passport has its own criteria for a second or third visa; check the relevant specified-work rules.
DocumentsPrepare documents according to your personalised Home Affairs checklist; for Spain’s subclass 462, check education, English, funds and identity.

If you have more than one nationality, compare the pathways before applying, without mixing passports or rules within the same application.

With a Spanish passport, continue with 462 requirements and application (in Spanish). If your passport belongs to the other pathway, use the 417 guide (in Spanish).

Then organise your first year (in Spanish) and preparing your trip (in Spanish). If you want another stay, check specified work (in Spanish) and second and third years (in Spanish) before committing to a job for that purpose. The documents and conditions must match your subclass.
